Friday Family Fotos!

Picture in September 1949 of newborn sister Georgia Rae at 2 weeks, our Dad and me at 2 years.  My birthday is on the 7th of  September, and Georgia's is on the 6th of the month, two years apart.  The note by the picture said it was baby's first picture with Daddy.

Next picture I am 2 years & 8 months, and Georgia is 8 months old.  Love the stroller.  Antique now if we still had it!

I can't tell what I was busy fixing.  Maybe fixing the duck's tail?!?  I bet I wasn't able to push that stroller in the grass.  Just not big enough yet.  Love the fender covers on the stroller wheels.  I don't remember what color the stroller was.  Do you Georgia?   But I do remember later when I was bigger that I used the stroller for my dolls and teddy bear.

Fire Pits!

June 2008 at Leah and Steve's

I had just gotten Odda 1, and this pup was content to be held.

At Steph and Cullens
As you can see, you don't need a fancy pit or trimmings to have fun around a fire!
Night before Stephani's wedding!  May 9, 2008 and the uncles and cousins had a great time!  This fire was kept going all night long by several of the cousins!  Weddings are so fun, because it brings together all the cousins that don't get to see each other very often.  But when they do get together, the stories you hear about are great!  We laughed so hard.  That night of the fire, was the driest time of the whole weekend.  Steph and Cullen's wedding day was very rainy!

I've often thought that I'd like to have a really nice patio with a nice stone fire pit, but I don't think you can buy fun and a good time by having all the fancy, schmancy stuff!
Throughout the years we've sat around fire pits that have been like the one above,  just throw logs together  and you have a fire!
It just takes a group of people you love to be around and you can have the best time of your life around a simple fire pit in your back yard.

This type of a fire pit below and patio had been on my wish list, but I think I can do without it!
I'll just wait until some evening soon, when the kids and some friends are here, and out will come the marshmellows, chocolate and graham crackers for smores, and soon we'll have a rip-roaring fire going.  Would love to have you all come by!

Going to the Birds!

We still have Canadian Geese coming in to our corn field every night to eat now left over corn kernals.  Steve finally could combine his corn to feed to the pigs.  It was too wet to combine last fall, so we fed deer all winter long.  When he finally did combine last week, there was a lot of damaged corn cobs and a lot gone, but he still filled the grain bins with corn, so won't have to buy corn for awhile.
We also have two Sand Hill Cranes coming to our field every evening.  I didn't realize how big they really were, until I walked out to the field the other evening.  They weren't afraid of Hooch, but finally did fly to the other end of the field.  When I first walked out there, they had been in the corn,  then they walked south to a field that we'd dug last fall, and then when the geese started coming in, the cranes flew to the north end of the field.

Took an Easter Drive to a Rookery!

After a hugh Easter dinner and a few games of cards, Jenny (our newest family member from Iowa) and I went for a drive.   Steve and I had been telling them about the Blue Heron Rookery and she wanted to see.  Everyone else lazy, but Jenny and I went.  The birds are sitting on their eggs now, and some nests, you could only see a parents head atop the nest.  The past few days it has been terribly windy here, and you could see damage to some of the nests, so I'm afraid some of the parents lost their eggs.  Some of the birds were nervous that we were there, so we didn't stay too long, but I did get some great pictures.  Wonderous Gods creations!

Wind damaged nest.

Easter Bunny Dogs!

Happy Easter from Hooch and Odda and The Nilson's!

Doesn't Hooch look excited about wearing ears other than his own!  Took several takes to get them to sit close enough to each other, without one or the other trying to get their ears off!
Have a great weekend.

Bunnies!

Leah in 1977  (10years old) with new Easter Bunny.  Looks like the spring we are having now.  At least no snow for Easter this year!
This little bunny has brown tipped ears.
Stephani would have been 5 years old.  Oh how they loved these rabbits.  The rabbits were with us a long time. Steph's little bunny has black tipped ears.   Little Jessica wasn't born until 1979, so she missed out on the bunnies!

You've Been Egged!

Blogger friend Connie got me involved again!  Idea from her daughter Jen, that we should egg the neighbors!  We each made some decorated eggs and Connie made the bands for the eggs, "You've been egged!  Happy Easter!    Between us we had a total of 144 little plastic eggs with candy treats inside.
A list of neighbors and friends was made up, and off we went.  Some were home, and others not.  Hopefully all the eggs will be found! The most enjoyable was stopping a our neighbors day care.  She had 12 kids there, and they were all so excited!  And polite - Thank You's floating around and Please Help Me, as some couldn't get the taped banner off.   I jokingly called Connie and I the "Plus Sized Easter Bunny Helpers!  (Sorry Connie!).  Another fun adventure!

click on the collage  so you can see all pictures better!
See - we even left eggs on the tracks of a big earth digger in Connie's nephews yard.
