Goodbye Hooch

This has been a terrible week for us as our wonderful Hooch  dog didn't survive his battle with the tick born disease Anaplasmosis.  The disease went to his neurological system and on Monday his system started to shut down and we had to have him put to sleep on Tuesday after it continued to get worse.  Poor thing he was hurting so bad and went into continuous seizures.  Couldn't let him suffer like that.  Now he's in heaven with Steve's parents playing frisbee with Grandpa Carl and no doubt Grandma is fixin him eggs every morning, like she used to do.

Odda is doing okey.  The medicine seems to be working for her.  We're not done with it yet, but will keep on checking her closely.  I'm sure she misses her buddy, and when Connie and Gene came over the other night with Chance, she had fun running and playing.  She doesn't fetch like Hooch did, but maybe Chance will teach her how!

I'm so sorry. It is so very hard, both on us and the other family pets when one of our pets are no longer with us, that's for sure. Our Fritzi,(minature schnauzer) has been gone since a little over a year ago now, and our two other dogs still sense and know that he's not around to be one of their team members anymore.. I really think that dogs have their own mourning period that they go through when they've lost their friend.

Blessings,
~Lynn

Oh my heart goes out to you. I know how hard it is to lose a pet also.
They are so much a part of the family but we hate to see them suffer.

Hey, It is hard to look at that last photo of Hooch..that was Monday afternoon and then he died on Tuesday night..so unreal. Chance is sure gonna miss him..me too. I hope you are hanging in there...it was good to see your post.
Did you know that when Hooch was a pup one time Arvilla had him over here and he jumped up on Gene's lap and kept on going till he was practically on top of his head..we all laughed. Hooch was a good dog.
I am so sorry:(

It is so difficult to lose any pet but especially the ones with great personality. I remember when you had that post of him looking in the box. It's a great picture - - - like a Norman Rockwell painting. The end with pets is so difficult and heart-breaking but it is still worth the price of having them to love for a few years. I will pray for you all. The void left by the pet's absence takes some adjustment.

I am so sorry to hear about Hooch. It is always so difficult to lose a fur-baby, as we grow so fond of them. They take a piece of our heart with them.

I had a Grandpa Carl too. You don't hear that name much anymore. Take care. He is now no longer suffering.

I remember when mom and dad brought him home, he was so small, I was still living at home then, Hooch would try so hard to get up on the couch, and then he finally made it, I even have it on film, ill have to find that, and from that day forward Hooch claimed his couch, I loved that dog so, I will miss him!! Love u Hoochy poochy!! From Steph
