Consignment Auction!

We need to clear out stuff again for another rummage sale and I'm sure some of the stuff we have would be worth a lot more than some of the junk I saw yesterday at the monthly consignment auction near us.  I always get the itch that morning to go there and check everything out to see if there is something I absolutely will need.  Not so yesterday.  I walked around for about 45 minutes, took some pictures for you all to see, and visited with a few neighbors.  It makes me feel good about how our place looks.  Sometimes I've thought we have too much junk around, but not so anymore.  There were pallets filled with "stuff", old "stuff", and junk.  There were some man tools, and what must have been a close out of a business or two, but nothing that I couldn't live without.

This wagon had boxes with candy in them.  This is almost the end of it.  They were stacked several boxes high.  I wonder why that was there.  Wonder what the expiration date was on them.  I wonder if some of it melted before it got sold?!?!?  I didn't stand there long enough to hear what they were going for.

A vendor brough some of these kids battery operated 4 wheelers to sell.  There had a bunch at the sale in July too.  Only bad thing - no battery; so if you don't have access to getting one that fits, your good deal isn't such a good deal!

The hand push garden plow and old trike caught my eye.  Thought about sticking around to bid on either one of them, but when I walked by later I got really mad.  Someone had monkeyed around with the trike and broke off the handle bars. Looks like it just snapped off.  It just irks me when people don't leave things alone.  But that's the chance you take when you sell at an auction like this one.
Couldn't get this rotated, but a great find if one is interested in comic books.  I called Far Guy, as I know he has some interest in them.  Don't know if he made it there to check them out.

The cut glass pitcher was cracked, but the carnival glass bowl and lid were in good condition.  Wonder what amount of money they got for that.

Oh I would really love to have this.  There were a row of cars that were going to be sold.  Have always thought I'd look cute driving around town in a little yellow bug!  Won't happen unless I get divorced and find myself a rich man!  ha! Quite a few lawn mowers, a pontoon and a couple of tractors and boats, motors on trailers.  There were two so called sale rings going on outside and also one inside.  That is where really good collectibles and furniture are sold.  It was so hot and muggy and indoors wasn't much better.  Here are a couple of pictures that interested me inside.

There was another big Long Horn Cow head next to this one.  The sellers number tag was stuck on it's nose.   How would you like to have that looking at you from your wall?  Not me.  I think they're a beatiful animal, but wouldn't like them on my wall.  I'm sure someone paid a big amount to have it preserved.

After checking out the auction I came home and spent the rest of the day working on the livestock youth auction paperwork from Saturday. Was busy with that until 8 pm last night.  Took today off from that and worked today on making bean bags for the bean bag game that brother in law Don makes and sells.  A wonderful start to the week.

The comic books looked interesting. Speaking of the VW bug, I saw one last week that was bright red and had big black polka dots on the backside and "eyelashes" painted around the head lights to look like a ladybug. On the driver's door in pretty script, it said "My Lady's Bug!" I wish I could have taken a photo.

I heard there was a bunch of junk there - but sometimes you find some good stuff.... Sister in law found some scrabble games (new) - gosh I would have bought them - always looking for more for my project.....

Those boxes of comics were interesting..but musty smelling..we didn't find any junk there that we needed desperately. That chipped pitcher would have made a great vase for flowers..I still have that old green crockpot that is in the one box. I hate the 5 percent buyers fee that gets tacked onto your purchase..he already gets a good percentage from the seller. He was walking around with his shirt all unbuttoned again..and the worst part of that is that I saw a bunch of Erlin wannabees..so we left:(

Wow... a lot of stuff there. We have a flea market/antique show in our area the first Sunday of the month from May through October. It used to be really good...now there is mostly just junk and I haven't been in a while! That makes me sad.
But I do love that yellow VW Bug...I've always wanted a Bug, but hubby wouldn't let me get one either! :o(

XOXO,
